Pulau Sudong is a small island off the southern coast of Singapore. Prior to becoming a military installation in the 1980s, it used to be home to some of the native Malay islanders of Singapore. Peering through the mangroves, you can see a traditional Malay kampung (village), and two young boys playing in the shallow waters with their model boats, also known as ‘Jong’.
One of the boys has been identified in 2015 by the team behind ‘Island Nation’, a documentary project that tells the stories of the people who once lived on Singapore’s Southern Islands.
